Fantastic Four Review and Theater rants

Okay, so Glenn and I went to see Fantastic Four this evening and I put up my review here.

We went to the cinema at West Town Mall. It is a Regal theater and everytime I go to a Regal theater, I forget just how much better they are than Carmike. In Maryville, we have the one theater that has a monopoly on the movies shown in Maryville. It infuriates me. I love to watch movies, but theaters like this one just do not try hard enough to make it a movie experience. Instead they feel they are doing  you a favor by showing a movie that you want to see. The food and drinks are at most, edible. The sound constantly goes in and out, no matter what theater you are in. The video always has scratches on it, or a line of some sort. The air conditioning/heat is always out on at least one theater at a time. And it is not a happy place to go either with the faces of teenagers and adults who have motivation for working at the establishment. I know it isn’t the best job, but at least smile a little bit sometimes.

So back to the theater chain thing. It seems that each Carmike theater I go to, they just don’t do enough to make you enjoy the experience, where movies seem larger than life, and Hollywood seems glamorous. But I get that with the Regal Cinemas. They seem to know how to give me the chills of seeing a well put together theater where the focus can be on the movie the whole time, and not how bad the sound is or any of 20 other possible problems that can distract you. They also know how to make the environment inviting to the public, and not scare them away with the zombie-like personnel that I get at other theaters. So that is my rant for the day. I know you don’t care, and probably don’t agree, but next time you go to a Carmike theater, contrast it with a Regal and you will see what I mean.
