Peter Pan

Tonight, i watched a movie that i have been wanting to see for awhile, i just hadn’t gotten around it. I watched Peter Pan that was directed by P.J. Hogan. It was a very good remake of the 1953 Disney movie. The difference this time is that instead of an animated story, it has a real cast. Headlined by Jason Isaacs, the only well-known cast member, it is a group of virtually nameless actors and actresses. It was a very good adaptation of a story that I love as it is. I sometimes think about why there are not more remakes of movies that have a very good storyline, but the reason is that they would not be able to do it justice, and so there is no reason to undo the perfection that has been achieved the first time. But this was not one of those instances.
This movie was very well done. At first I thought it might be a little too dark for children to really adjust to after seeing the Disney version with songs and comedy. But after watching it, i think it would only be too dark for the smallest children. Children that have a simple understanding of movies would really enjoy this movie. It stayed very true to the story almost the entire movie, making it a very intriguing movie for anyone who would give it a chance and watch it.
Now, the cast. Jason Isaacs fills the role of Captain James Hook excellently. He is the only person I could imagine being the Hook we all know and dislike. Jeremy Sumpter did a very good job as Peter Pan, with his very naive smile, it fit Peter Pan quite well. Although, I will say that his lisp did kind of get on my nerves from time to time. But as quickly as it got on my nerves, the story took over and I would forget about it again. Rachel Hurd-Wood did a very good job as "the Wendy-Lady". I enjoyed watching her fly through the air the first time, and tell stories to the lost boys and pirates alike. The person I enjoyed watching the most was Tinkerbell. Ludivine Sagnier is the name of Tinkerbell. I won’t lie and say that I didn’t like TInkerbell. The girl was very attractive and definitely had my attention. But she was not the whole movie.
It was a very good movie, that I would recommend to anyone who has ever thought about how great it would be to be a kid again. For Peter Pan, I give it 4 out of 5 stars.
