Reality TV

Okay, i, like many other people in America are very tired of the whole reality television genre that has plagued our televison waves for the past 4 or 5 years. I mean, reality shows, as a general rule now, are pretty hokey and crappy. You would think there would be a backlash that would make the terrible shows stop, but instead they think that with a new idea then the viewers will enjoy it more. Some shows can stay on for seasons to come and I won’t mind. I love watching American Idol. With me being the music enthusiast that I am, I love watching it everytime. I think I could take Simon’s job easily. I can shut people down musically with the best of them. And with shows like Trading Spaces, which is semi-reality, I could sit and watch it for quite awhile. Although I will say that part of the reason for that is the due to Paige Davis.
But there are new shows that have a terrible premise that i could do without. There is one new show on called “Who’s Your Daddy?”. I can go ahead and say that this show is going to be terrible. I didn’t like it the first time when it was called the “Jerry Springer Show”. And a show called “The Will” which is about a family vying for the money of their uncle/husband/dad/whatever. That is absolutely ridiculous. I can’t believe that people are actually willing to do some of this stuff. And the last of the new bad reality shows is a show called “Wickedly Perfect”. It consists of a bunch of Martha Stewart wannabes who think they are the best at crafting something out of nothing, and of course it has the reality twist where someone gets kicked by the other people yada-yada-yada.
But you can’t forget the really bad shows that have been on for a season or two now and somehow people keep watching. Shows like “The Simple Life” blow my mind. I have pretty much taken the word “hot” out of my vocabulary because of Paris Hilton, and any thoughts I had that Lionel Ritchie could possibly be a good guy was taken out because of his daughter that absolutely drives me nuts. And don’t even get me started on the dog that stays with them everywhere they go. I have never wanted to kill a rat so badly in my life. Well, that is my rant. I have another one coming soon, but for now that will do.

  1. Careful man, many more long ones like this of the ranting kind and people will think they are reading my stuff….=)

I’m in total agreement, if there were more good non reality shows on TV, I might actually watch it some.
