Events

So I am normally a busy person anyways, but all week I have just been slammed with "events". Now, that is not to say that these are bad things. Only to say that those "events" added on top of all of the stuff that I normally take on makes things even more hectic than normal. Let me explain an event. There are those things that I do on a normal or semi-normal basis that keep me busy week in and week out. Then there are the "events" that are one time or monthly or something to that extent that I attend. So Thursday night we had a big event at work that kept me there until later than normal as we had customers as well as representatives from other companies touring the facilities and asking questions about our setup and everything. Not a whole lot of fun, but doable. Mostly it ended up that me and my supervisor stood around and looked good and talked about tech and movies. So it could have been a lot worse.
And while I am there on Thursday night, my phone is working fine. Then about a half hour before we are to leave, I look at my phone to see what time it is since I don’t wear a watch. And my phone is dead. So I think, well, maybe the battery just died. I get in the car and plug it in. I let it charge for a few minutes and try to turn it on. It turns on and turns itself back off. Not a good sign. I try this multiple times to no avail. Then I let it charge all night to just give it the benefit of the doubt and nothing happens. So I have to buy a new phone. That is not all bad, just not something I had planned for. I wasn’t planning on getting a new phone as I was perfectly happy with my old one. But I love new toys and phones these days are definitely just that. So it gives me a chance to really delve into the phone reviews and see what is out there that does what I want and see what kinds of new phones I can check out. I had it narrowed down to two and as the Cingular store had only one of these two, then my decision was made for me. So I got the Sony Ericsson s710a and am liking it so far. We will see if it does as well as my Nokia 3650. But being the busy guy I am, I had to go directly from work on Friday to scope it out and take care of business. Because Friday night there was another event.
Skeenes had a little shindig where multiple pumpkins were ruthlessly defaced or maybe faced would be a better word. So that went on til close to 1, which is pretty late really nowadays as I have become an old man and rarely stay up past 11:30. I get up on Saturday morning and start on the homework. Ah, the homework. You know, it is amazing that I am taking these classes online, am learning less, and still have to pay full price to teach myself something that I am supposed to be paying others for. Unreal. So I do homework til about 6 and then head over to Dave and Susans’ for another shindig that involves pumpkins. I know Turkeys hate Thanksgiving, but pumpkins must hate Halloween.
Something that still wierds me out is when I see someone that I have known for years upon years and I have always looked at as someone’s little sister or brother and then be in high school or college and be semi-grownup. It really blows my mind. While at the Kings’ residence, two of their neices are over there that I have known through church for years and have hung out with their older sister on many an occasion. And upon first glance, I almost can’t recognize them because they are both so much older than I remember them. I still remember going on church trips and almost having to hide from the younger one because she was boy crazy and I was the most eligible bachelor. It is so strange to see her now halfway through high school and actually growing up. But it is Halloween and creepiness is around every corner.
So to wrap this up, the "events" are over. And the month of November looks to be somewhat relaxing as I am taking classes at New Horizons this week and then have next week off from work. So that means I don’t have to touch the work shirts for 2 full weeks. How beautiful is that? So that means that this week I may get to catch a couple of movies, but next week I plan to hit new releases constantly. So expect multiple reviews and additions to the list of current movies on the right that week. Then I go back to work and start working a little bit in the networking department alongside of my time in production for a week and then Thanksgiving is here. And by then we are a month away from Christmas. How time flies when you begin to get a little older.
Sweet Aaron, It is an honor to be mentioned in your blog. I was glad to see you at the ole pumpkin carve. You are one of those sweet baby faces that have grown up before my eyes and I am so very proud of you. As for that skalawag Skeenes character, he and his little missus have dissed me and I am going to roll their yard!! haha Just teasing.
I will have you all over for dinner soon–
love you, Susan
