Birthdays

Do you remember when you used to think that your birthday was like the second biggest day of the year? You got lots of presents, you had a big party, all your friends hung out with you. It was so much fun. As you get older, you kind of realize that it isn’t as big a deal as you thought. Years mesh together like the days when you are on vacation, unless there is a large distinguishing factor that sets it apart from the others that surround it. You try to act excited and take the “Happy Birthday” comments as best as you can, but you really don’t care at this point. I know that at 24 I have nothing really to be too excited about that was any different from yesterday. Now, next year will be a little different as the premium drops on my car insurance. How sad is that? I am excited about my car insurance dropping, and that will be the biggest deal for me. And the next real change in age for me will be at age 30 as other “discounts” come up. Then again at 40, and 50, and then 60. After that, social security, if it’s still around, retirement, although, who knows how old I will have to be before that happens and then nothing from then on out. It is kind of sad if you think about it too much. I am trying to be excited about being one year older, but it is kind of hard when there isn’t much to be excited about. Just my little rant for the day.

  1. Hey, not being excited is better than actually being depressed…=)

    Happy Bday man…

  2. First of all, happy berfday.

    – dude, that makes me sad for you… I don’t if any advice I could give you would be welcomed, but there’s gotta be more to it than that for you. I still remember the Aaron that spent 4 weeks at 4 different beaches with me one summer.

  3. All I can say is the 25th birthday car insurance discount rocks. Who knew I’d be such a safe driver after turning 25, I mean I can feel the safety improvement….no really. Don’t forget about the enticing senior discount at whatever age that kicks in.

I have to agree, getting older just isn’t as much fun as it used to be. Now we’re just getting “old”. 🙂 Have a great day!
