Nintendo Revolution

So Sony and Microsoft have released all of their pictures and spec sheets and everything for the Playstation 3 and the XBOX 360, but Nintendo hadn’t really given us anything more than a console design of thier newest console the Revolution. Thursday was the big day though. I already knew that they were going to make it so that you can download the old school games to your Revolution. Like, you will be able to download Super Mario or Legend of Zelda from the original NES. I don’t know how new they are going to go with this though. I am not sure whether they are going to allow the downloading of N64 games or not. But I would love to have Goldeneye and Tony Hawk on my new machine.
So, anyways, they released a nice little teaser trailer that looks really cool. The Revolution’s controller is what will make it head and shoulders above the other consoles in my opinion. It isn’t that it is pretty or anything, but instead is that it is very useful. The controller will work according to how the controller actually moves. So if you are playing a tennis game, you will actually have to use the controller to hit. If you are playing a fishing game, you have to cast with the controller. Stuff like that. Which, I think is ingenious. I mean, I think we have all played games that took this concept to its infancy, but this seems to be built around the idea and if implemented well, will be unreal.
Now, the aesthetics of the controller are nothing special. It can be different colors, but for the most part it just looks like your everyday TV remote. There are extras that you can hook into it that can make it capable of adapting to various games more easily as well. Plus I found out that they are planning on making an old school style controller that you could use for the old games like MIke Tyson’s punchout if you want. So this could be the best of both worlds, old school and new hotness.
So, links.

Plus the link in the article will take you to the teaser trailer.
I will say, this is the console I am most looking forward to. I can’t wait to play Contra on the new machine alongside all of the new games. I think they made this thing just for me.
