Lady in the Water Review

Movies

Okay, this is just a quick review to let everyone know not to go see this film. All of the characters were very one-dimensional, and boring. The storyline was very convoluded and distracting. I know this is a fictional film and all. And with that you have to take some leaps with it because of that, but it just keeps getting deeper and deeper into it. The movie really was bad. I have heard only bad things about it, but I went in thinking that I was going to like it because it seemed neat. I was wrong. Seriously, if you want an entertaining fictional film, go see Cars or Pirates of the Caribbean, not this one. Stay far away from this stinker.

The only redeeming part of the film is Paul Giamatti. I have never been a big fan of his, but in this, he was really good. I was impressed with him. If it wasn’t for him, this film would get a 0 out of 10, but instead it gets a 3 out of 10.

Trailers and Clips

Movies, Videos, Weblogs

Okay, here are the video clips that I couldn’t embed. Check them out though

The Departed Trailer – This movie looks absolutely amazing. It is a Martin Scorsese film, and it stars Matt Damon, Mark Wahlberg, Jack Nicholson, and Leonardo DiCaprio. Holy crap, what a cast. This is going to be a great movie.

Stranger Than Fiction Trailer – I love Will Ferrell. He is always the same character, and yet he takes different avenues and puts different nuances to the role. If you saw Winter Passing, then you know that he can do something with a little more weight. This looks like a really good film. Check out the trailer and see for yourself.

The Black Dahlia Trailer – I really wasn’t thinking much of this one, but it actually looks really cool. It stars Josh Hartnett, Scarlett Johanssen, Hilary Swank, and Aaron Eckhart. I like the way this looks. It could let me down, but I am going to give it the benefit of the doubt and say that I am looking forward to it.

Babel Trailer – This one stars Brad Pitt and Cate Blanchett. A lot of people are really excited about this one, but I am not one of them. I mean, the cast is good, and it looks like good acting. But the storyline doesn’t really interest me like it does a lot of other people. It’s worth a look though.

Renaissance Trailer and clip - I haven’t heard anything about this one, but it looks really cool. It is animated, but more along the lines of Sin City and A Scanner Darkly in that it is just a medium for a story. This is one animated film that your kids will not need to see. It looks really violent, but also looks very intriguing. If you like action films, check out this trailer. It is impressive.

The Pursuit of Happyness Trailer – Will Smith has become a major player in Hollywood. He seems to get some really great roles, and this may be one of them. I liked this trailer. I think this will be one to watch. I don’t know that it will be the best movie of the year, but it will be a tear jerker.

Employee of the Month Trailer – Jessica Simpson is in this, so that is a strike against it. But it actually looks really funny. Surprisingly. It does have Dax Shepard and Dane Cook in it though.

The Oh in Ohio – The subject matter on this one is sex, so it isn’t for everyone. But it stars Parker Posey and Paul Rudd. It has gotten really good reviews and I think this will be an extremely funny film. I am looking forward to it.
