Fall 2005 TV Schedule

Well, all I have to say is that it is a good thing I can record more than one show at a time because otherwise I would have to set multiple VCR’s to do the work for me while I watched shows.
I was looking the other day at the schedule for the fall on the major channels and thought I would share the knowledge with you. I got the info from Laurel’s TV Picks. It is a nice little spreadsheet style layout of what is on each day of the week on each major channel once the new shows come into play. So I thought I would let you know what shows I will be checking out. Some new, some old, some moved, some guilty pleasures.
Mondays 8:30 on CBS is How I met your Mother. It is starring Doogie Howser himself Neal Patrick Harris, and the "This one time at band camp" girl from American Pie and Buffy, Alyson Hannigan. It looks really neat. I think it will be a fun series.
Mondays at 8:30 on FOX is Kitchen Confidential. This will really be the night for comedy. Kitchen Confidential has Bradley Cooper from Jack & Bobby and Wedding Crashers, as well as Nicholas Brendan from Buffy. So along with his friend Alyson, they are both returning to the small screen. It is based on the book Kitchen Confidential and looks to be pretty entertaining.
Tuesdays at 9 on NBC is My Name is Earl. It has Jason Lee in it, what more can you say. The guy is hilarious. I mean, as Brody, Banky, and Azrael in the Kevin Smith movies. The guy is awesome. He kind of has the same effect as Matthew Perry where anything he is in is going to be funny just because of the style of humor.
Wednesdays are going to be rough. one show at 8, and 2 at 9. This is where the recording comes into play.
At 8 on WB is One Tree Hill. One of the guilty pleasures of mine. I have seen them all, and still get really into the stories. It is a good teen drama, but nothing more than that.
At 9 on UPN is Veronica Mars. Most people probably haven’t seen this show, but it is really enjoyable. The acting is good, storyline, writing, the whole thing. It runs the gammut when it comes to doing everything right in TV, well, all except being in UPN which no one watches.
At 9 on ABC is Lost. Holy geez. What a show. If you haven’t seen this show, I don’t know what you are doing. Every person I have talked to who has watched more than 1 episode of it has enjoyed it and really gotten into it. I don’t know how they are going to 1) keep the cast together for too many more years because I know they have offers on the table for other stuff, and 2) they are going to keep coming up with stories that are as riveting without jumping the shark.
Thursdays are going to be just as hard to figure out because there are 3 shows I want to see. One may not pan out, but the other two I know will have me interested.
At 8 on WB is Smallville. The young Superman is so much fun to watch. Even if you don’t really care for comic books, this show has really good dramatic points that draw you in. Most weeks the shows are standalone episodes, but when they have a story bleed over for multiple weeks, watch out.
At 8 on FOX is The O.C. I know some people think I am a woman for watching this, but I got hooked last spring and now I know all about what happens in town. Besides, Adam Brody is still hilarious, and the pop culture references still keep me hooked. But I don’t see it being on for too many more seasons.
At 8 on UPN is Everybody Hates Chris. Now, this one could or could not pan out. It is hard to say. It is the stories of Chris Rock’s childhood. He is narrating and kind of doing the Wonder Years thing about his own childhood. I think it could work and from the previews, it looks like it will be funny.
On Sundays you have the big lineup on ABC consisting of Extreme Makeover: Home Edition, Desperate Housewives, and Grey’s Anatomy. I can really take or leave the first two, but Grey’s Anatomy at 10 is a good show. I am sure that is a subjective statement, but it is just my opinion.
Other than the O.C., everything starts next week or the next. So be ready to catch the shows. Are there any shows that I missed that look good?
