iTunes 5 features

Okay, last major post of the day. I upgraded to iTunes 5 Wednesday and have found good and bad things that correspond with the upgrade. Mostly good, but not completely. But it may just be my upgrade where the bad comes from. But the new features are as follows.

  • Finally, iTunes adds the podcasts to your library, instead of just adding them to your podcast playlist.
  • You can open your playlists in their own dedicated window in case you want to look at your library as well as your playlist.
  • There are parental controls for the iTunes music store and its content.
  • It makes a playlist for each full album you purchase so you don’t have to make it yourself.
  • The iPod works really well with integrating with your email client like Outlook. It can import your contacts and calendar from there without having to deal with outlook exporting.
  • There is a new search feature built-in to the library so you can search by artist and album and such. Works really well.

Now the glitches. And there are really only two that I have found, but like I said, it could just be my machine.

  • It locked up within 2 uses where the old version didn’t lockup hardly at all.
  • It didn’t import my podcasts. It imported the files, but not my subscriptions so I had to go through and resubscribe. I was very mad.

If you can find more, let me know. I think it works pretty well. The looks are about the same in my opinion. Just a little cleaner now.
