Dreamer Review

39m_3The reign of Dakota Fanning just keeps coming. In this, one of her five movies released this year, she is the daughter of Kurt Russell and Elizabeth Shue, and Granddaughter of Kris Kristofferson. The premise of the story is one that we have seen many times before in Disney movies that involve animals, where the animal gets hurt, but as it heals and grows stronger, so do those around them. Dreamer gets hurt in a race and rather than being put down, Kurt Russell takes her home with him to heal and possibly breed. The lack of a relationship between Dakota Fanning and Russell grow stronger as they both care for this horse and grow closer together. As with all sports oriented Disney films, this one gives you the "Disney Feeling". That feeling of triumph akin to the Flying V in MIghty Ducks, or the angel wings in Angels in the Outfield. There is a certain point in the movie that makes you forget about all of the conflict in the movie and only hope that this horse can do what it was made to do. It is a really good movie that all ages would enjoy. If you are a cynical person who does not like the triumph stories, then steer clear, but otherwise, see it now or see it later, it doesn’t matter. Just see it. I give Dreamer a 7 out of 10.
